Antarctica Ross Ice Shelf
There’s no better place than the Ross Ice Shelf to get inspired by the beauty of unspoiled nature. This great natural barrier was first discovered by the British explorer James Clark Ross and what a discovery it was! 487,000 square kilometers and a 15-50 meter high floating mass of land-ice in Antarctica! It is the largest body of floating ice on the planet and serves as an important window into the exploration of the Antarctic interior and the progression of climate change.
Although a visit to this frozen natural masterpiece does not come cheap, for those with an adventurous spirit and plenty of pennies saved this is a bucket list item that can be fulfilled! Visitors can take a helicopter from the Antarctic Peninsula right up to the Polar Circle, then to Campbell Island, Macquarie Island, and Ross Sea. Expect to experience some of the least visited scenic spots in Antarctica, take once in a lifetime photos and be inspired by the raw beauty of this remote part of the world.
