It uses the joy of its people to measure national progress as the Fourth King of Bhutan strongly believed that the achievement of the collective happiness of its people is fundamental for any nation's development.
The local people of Bhutan breathe compassion and kindness and the communities here thrive as a love thy neighbours attitude is worshipped. It is a land of traditional Buddhist culture, famous monastery's, ancients temples, dzongs, red-robed monks, Himalayan peaks, low-deep valleys and of course they love their chillies, so spice is on the menu!
Not only is the culture and the local people beautiful but natural scenery is also divine. One cannot mention the awe-Inspiring Tiger's Nest when talking about Bhutan, which is a 325-year-old monastery perched on a cliff 900 meters above Paro valley. This is considered one of the country's most sacred religious sites; Legend has it that Guru Padmasambhava meditated for years inside a cave that lies at the heart of the temple and it is believed that he flew into the cave riding a tigress!
