Buddha's Mega Monument Of Borobudur
Borobudur is a Buddhist monument of astonishing proportions that was built in 800 AD and then lost to the jungle for hundreds of years before being rediscovered in the 19th century. Today, it has become a site for pilgrims and Buddhist worship.
According to Buddhist theologians, Borobudur was built in an attempt to immortalize the cosmos in stone. Shaped like a mandala, the monument has four platforms linked together by a pathway that takes visitors to three levels of this ancient wonder. Each level has steep stairs and walkways with decorations representing parts of Buddhist scriptures and the life of Buddha.There are overall 2,672 relief panels arranged in perfect order.
