Chichen Itza
The Mayan civilization is still one of the most fascinating of ancient civilizations, it has greatly contributed to the human race. One of the country’s famous landmarks, and one of the 7 wonders of the world, Chichen Itza is a must-see. The site covers about 5 kilometers and is estimated to be about 1500 years old. Chichen Itza is believed to have been a prominent city for the Yucatan peninsula mostly because of its fresh water springs. Visitors can explore the El Castillo pyramid which is 98ft tall, the Great Ball Court which was an ancient sports arena, and the Temple of Warriors. Chichen Itza is one of those places you have to see with your own eyes.
