Cristo Redentor
Considered one of the most iconic statues in the world, Brazil’s Cristo Redentor or Christ the Redeemer statue, as it is called in English, is one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. This majestic statue sits in the Tijuca National Park at the top of the Corcovado hill at 710 meters above sea level, measuring 38 meters in height. The statue was inaugurated in 1931, and it took five years to build. It is said to represent the faith and compassion of the people of Rio de Janeiro.
This impressive monument which has been towering and guarding Rio de Janeiro for the past 90 years, draws thousands of tourists to the city every year.
