Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour
Since the early 1900s, the Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour has been a fully functional fishing port. Today, both locals and tourists frequent the harbor to sample its world-famous fish and chips and locally made beer.
The harbor is a well-liked weekend hangout day and night because it is only a short stroll from Fremantle's city center and a 30-minute drive or train trip from Perth's. The harbor has had a long and dramatic history since it first began as a single jetty and fish market. In 1987, it had a significant refurbishment in anticipation of hosting the America's Cup sailboat race right off the coast of Fremantle.
