Giants Causeway
Giant’s Causeway is the only World Heritage Site in Northern Ireland, it is made of the highlights of the coastline that seems to reveal one mind-blowing landscape after another. Giant’s Causeway, has polygonal columns of layered basalt, that resulted from a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago. The dramatic beauty of this place has made it a tourist magnet and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Plus the legends on giants especially Finn MacCool who is said to have passed through here adds a certain mystique to the beauty of the place.
Giant’s Causeway also has a shipwreck site with the majestic ‘La Girona’ a huge Spanish Armada harboured there. Explore the mysterious ruins of Dunluce Castle, the eerie Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, stunning beaches with cream white sand and whiterocks. Stand on top of one of the hills or many rocks and look down into the Atlantic Ocean surrounded by about 40,000 hexagonal-shaped stepping stones that were formed 60 million years ago.
