Jurassic Coast

By theleaf.app On 15 Dec 2021

Located in Dorset, the Jurassic Coast is the ideal place to explore the geological features of the English coastline. Stretching across over 95 miles between Old Harry Rocks at Studland Bay and Exmouth in East Devon, the famous Jurassic Coast is a must-see. It holds the record as England’s first natural UNESCO World Heritage Site. Every piece of his dramatic coastline unravels mind-blowing natural treasures that you won’t believe if you don’t experience it for yourself.

The Jurassic Coast is a display of millions of years of history and geology, 185 million years to be exact. The rocks and fossils have been identified as belonging to prehistoric times with remains dating as far as back as 200 million years. It is a famous spot for fossil hunters because of specimens that were discovered here in the past. Stop at any of the many seaside villages for a hot meal, a drink at the pub, spend a night out dancing with the locals or relax in one of the town inns. A good example is the Lyme Regis or the West Bay. Don’t forget to visit the Museum of Jurassic Marine Life at Kimmeridge to see some of the fossils that were discovered in the area and learn about amazing species that lived here in prehistoric times.
