Khao Sok National Park
Khao Sok National Park's marvellous 738-sq-km is a lowland jungle considered to be the rainiest spot in Thailand. It is believed to be 160 million years old, making it one of the world's oldest rainforests with stunning waterfalls and hidden caves. Khao Sok National Park is one of the last viable habitats for large mammals due to its vast terrain. You can spot bears, boars, gaurs, tapirs, gibbons, deer, marbled cats, wild elephants, or even a tiger during the rainy months. There are over 300 species of birds, 38 species of bat and one of the world's largest and most smelly flora, the Rafflesia kerrii, which is a rarity that grows in Khao Sok alone.
Khao Sok is located in Thailand's Surat Thani province around some of the most popular tourist destinations in Southern Thailand, Phuket, Krabi, Khao Lak and Koh Samui. It's a wonderful place for a holiday. Close contact with elephants, jungle trekking and canoeing are all possible activities that will provide quite an experience.
The best time to visit is during the dry season from December to April, , during the months of June to October, it is monsoon season. One of the highlights is Cheow Larn Lake, with its floating rafting houses and luxury tents in the heart of the national park. With foothill rainforests, rainforest plains, limestone crag vegetation, and lowland scrubs, Khao Sok offers a vast diversity of activities that will blow your mind.
