Kumano Kodo
Walk in the footsteps of ancient Japanese gods on a journey across the Kumano Kodo pathways. Consisting of a network of pilgrimage routes cutting through steep mountains, dense forests, waterfalls, rivers, and pristine land fields, the Kumano Kodo is believed to have been the route taken by emperors in ancient Japan on numerous quests and purification pilgrimages.
In 2014, Kumano Kodo was granted UNESCO World Heritage site status, today, the route is walked by people of all levels of the Japanese society as well as tourists. Kumano Kodo has the reputation of being considered sacred for centuries. Close to the cities of Osaka and Kyoto, Kumano Kado is said to be the origin of Japanese culture and spirituality.
