Lake Bled
This Alpine lake has been crowned a symbol of Slovenia’s beauty, making it a must-see. Lake Bled is a world-renowned paradise that is on many travellers’ bucket list. It’s surreal to be this close to a place of such natural beauty that has fueled legendary tales of supernatural healing and restorative powers - all that have added to its mystique. You can set sail on the lake on a “pletna,” a traditional wooden boat that has been taking visitors around for centuries.
At one point, Lake Bled was considered the most beautiful health resort in Austria-Hungary and its reputation brought thousands of visitors to the island.
There’s a church up a cliff called the Assumption of Mary Church where you can climb 99 ancient stone steps. Legend has it that hearing the medieval church bell ring will make your wishes come true.
If sailing is not your thing, you can take a relaxing stroll on a panoramic trail around the lake. Between the eerie lake, the majestic castle, and the hanging cliff, Lake Bled feels like a scene straight out of a medieval legend.
A journey here leaves you wondering if it’s real or a figment of your imagination.
All in all, Lake Bled is a sight to behold when witnessed in person!
