Lake Clifton Thrombolites
Lake Clifton Thrombolites are a unique geological formation found in Western Australia. These ancient structures are formed by colonies of microorganisms that live in shallow, saline water. The thrombolites resemble small mounds or domes, and are made up of a combination of sediment, microbial mats, and other organic materials. They are considered to be one of the oldest forms of life on Earth, dating back over 3 billion years.
