Lake Como
Located against the foothills of the Alps in the region of Lombardy Northern Italy, Lake Como is the third-largest in the country. And with a depth of about 410 meters, it is among the deepest lakes in Europe. The lake is shaped like an inverted Y with three branches that converge in the town of Bellagio. Lake Como is not for those travelling on a budget; most of the resorts around the lake are pretty upscale.
Como, Bellagio and Varenna are the major villages surrounding the lake, and they are charming with a lot of fun activities to offer. From boat trips to expensive cruises, private tours, and visits to some of the famous historical villas on the shores of the lake, such as Villa Balbianello or Villa Monastero, and Villa Melzi. The region is picturesque, with a display of some of the most exemplary Renaissance architecture against the backdrop of the Italian Alps.
Lake Como flows all the way up to the mountain town of Brunate. It is a place to be explored at a slow pace without any rush as you indulge in boat rides, windsurfing, sailing and the finer comforts of this natural paradise.
