Moai Statues
One of the worlds most remote places lays in the Pacific Ocean, drawing people all over the world to see its mysterious centuries-old giant stone gems. Easter Island, home to the Moai statues, is located on the east edge of the Polynesian triangle 3526km from the Chile Coast, 2075km west of the Pitcairn Islands and 4351km from Tahiti. Believed to be as many as 1000 statues on the island, some standing as high as 21 metres! They are veiled in mystery as to why they were carved from stone and how they were staggered all over the island with their significant size. Many theories, myths and legends surrounding the Moai Statues they have archaeologists worldwide puzzled!
