Museo Frida Kahlo
The Frida Khalo museum or "La Casa Azul" as it’s commonly called because of its vibrant blue color is the house where the renowned Latin American artist Frida Kahlo was born, raised, lived and died. She shared the house with her husband and fellow artist Diego Rivera and the pair amassed an impressive collection of pre-Hispanic artifacts, folk art, photographs, and their own works. In 1937, Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky lived here with Diego and Frida adding to the appeal of the house. Though it was changed into a museum when Frida died, the house has preserved its intimate atmosphere especially as very little of it was modified, her studio and art collection has been carefully maintained as it was during her time.
Get a glimpse at how she lived, worked, her kitchen, her closet and accessories she was fond of. Another highlight of the house is the amazing gardens on the premises, it has beautifully designed shaded sitting areas, a charming café, and a gift shop with Frida inspired trinkets. This museum is the ideal spot for a quiet day outing in Mexico. It is also family friendly with entertainment for kids, plus you can skip the queue by buying tickets in advance and visiting on a weekday.
