Namibia's Skeleton Coast
Along the coast of Namibia lies Skeleton Coast National Park, a fascinating natural paradise of isolated beaches, fog-shrouded shores, dramatic sand dunes, raw wilderness, mystical shipwrecks and whale skeletons. This national park is a strange mix of untouched beauty and eeriness. Skeleton Coast is named after the many ships that have fallen victim to the unforgiving Namibian Atlantic coast. Along with the many shipwrecked vessels is believed to be the ghost of dead sailors roaming the area. This foggy coastline is a graveyard in the eternal battle of man against nature, with nature having the upper hand.
Torra Bay, Ugab, and Springbokwasser are popular spots for fishermen and a gateway to the Atlantic. This place also has a unique and rich ecosystem with species like the Desert Elephant you can often spot feeding on grass on the banks of the river. The Oryx is another beautiful animal that lives here, it is fascinating with spiraling horns like that of a unicorn and can go for weeks without water. It’s also possible to come across Giraffes,Springboks,Brown Hyenas, Black Rhinos, an occasional Ostrich and even a Lion.
