Old Delhi
A magnificent example of Mughal architecture, Old Delhi is full of charm and memories. Walking through the backstreets of old Delhi, you find that every wall has a story to tell. The Red Fort is the highlight of Old Delhi, a walled city shaped roughly like a quarter circle, completely surrounded by a wall with 14 gates encircling about 1500 acres. While the walls have almost vanished, the majority of the gates remain.
Shahjahanabad was established in 1639 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan. It was the capital until the British renamed it Old Delhi. It features stunning architecture, a delectable array of cuisine, and a living, active piece of history.
The narrow alleyways of old Delhi have a dizzying array of cuisines to choose from and in this city, food is a religion. Food fragrances open your taste buds as you walk on the streets. The food, which has been praised by national and international foodies, will never fail to entice you. The cuisine is primarily meat-based, but it also includes delectable hot parathas, and chats. Narrow streets are lined up with shops selling everything from food to souvenirs. Expect to be blown away.
