Ruins In Palenque
Also known as Lakamha, the Palenque is what is left of an ancient Maya city that dates back between 226-799 AD. The city is believed to have come to a decline in the 7th century, and the site enveloped by the jungle only to be discovered centuries later. The Palenque consists of 15 sq km of magnificent ancient buildings on the Gulf coast plain of Mexico. The ruins and surrounding forests are part of the Parque Nacional Palenque, which has rich wildlife and untouched beauty.
On any given day, the Palenque sees about 1000 visitors who are awe-struck by the magnificence of these constructions and the fact that it was built without metal tools.
