Skogafoss
Famous for being one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland, at the height of 60 meters and a width of 25 meters, Skógafoss is a sight to behold. It is the highlight of the Skógá river, which has about 20 more smaller waterfalls above Skógafoss.
For better exploration and observation, 527 steps lead to the top of the waterfall, where you can enjoy its full glory. To make it even better, Skógafoss often has a rainbow that cuts through, making the whole scenery quite magical.
Local legend has it that Vikings hid a chest of gold beneath the waterfalls, and many people have tried to find it to no avail, so if you are into treasure hunting, then this is an adventure for you! Skógafoss is a favourite among tourists and locals alike, and no matter how many times you get to see it up close, the awe never ceases; it’s always like a painting you can touch and feel. You can even go through the water if you don’t mind getting soaked.
