Southern Lights
Seeing the Northern lights is an adventure embarked on and desired by many and is written on countless bucket lists worldwide, but the Southern Hemisphere has its own picturesque atmospheric light show! The southern lights, also known as the aurora australis, is the southern cousin to the Aurora Borealis and can be seen in southern parts of the world such as Tasmania, New Zealand and Antarctica.
The beautiful light show occurs when electrically charged solar particles and atoms in the Earth’s atmosphere collide with gases like oxygen and nitrogen, causing those gases to emit light and showcasing a spectacular display!
