Street Theatre Oaxaca Zocalo
Surrounded by tall trees, elegant arcades, buskers, hawkers,vendors, hustlers,and shoe shiners, Zócalo is the heart of Oaxaca, Mexico. Zócalo is reputed to be the best plaza in Mexico, it oozes life day and night. The highlight of the place is the street theater which offers nightlong spectacles. Oaxaca's zocalo has a reputation for evening musicians, accordionists, the accassional marimba band, the famous serenades.
Visitors sit under the shade of the trees for a drink on a sunny day or to grab a meal or snack at the many sidewalk cafes. Opposite the zocalo is the Palacio de Gobierno, and a 16th century cathedral surrounded by shops, restaurants, and cafes.
