Sydney Opera House
One of the world's most iconic landmarks (and probably the world's most famous opera house!) the Sydney Opera House stands on the tip of Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour and is the highlight for many visitors to Australia every year. Finished in 1973 after 14 years of construction, this UNESCO World Heritage site houses concerts and cultural events, so it is definitely worth trying to coincide your Sydney trip with an event under its famous roof!
Of course, you will want to get up close and personal to the building, but by far the best way to see the Sydney Opera House is by boat from the harbour itself. Grab some friends and hire a private charter, or save some money and hop on a ferry to Manley or Rose Bay to get that excellent view of both the opera house and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Extra points for timing your trip with sunset, and who knows, you might be joined by some curious dolphins too!
