Taroko National Park
Named after the Taroko Gorge, Taroko National Park is located in Xiulin Township, Hualien County, Taiwan. It is one of the country’s nine national parks and a top tourist attraction. With 27 peaks above 3000m, a surface area of 1200 sq km, a vast array of plant and animal species, the blue-green Liwu River, jaw-dropping gorge with marble walls, Taroko National Park is one of the natural gems of Asia.
The best way to begin a Taroko National Park adventure is to hike these enticing trails against the backdrop of green mountains, rugged cliffs, and emerald waters. Some of the highlights of this wondrous piece of heaven are: the Eternal Spring Shrine - built on top of a waterfall in honor of 200 veterans. The Shakadang Trail - a 2 hours mysterious trail across pathways of turquoise colored waters, the Tunnel Of Nine Turns - a 700 meter long narrow tunnel path with marble walls, waterfalls, and an awe-inspiring ravine.
