Temples Of Angkor
One of the best-preserved and one of the largest abodes of ancient Hinduism gods, the spectacular temples of Angkor Wat have been called "heaven on earth".
They are Cambodia's national pride and a symbol on their flag. The temples of Angkor are a feast of symmetry and splendour nothing can prepare you for. The main temple is made up of three galleries and five lotus bud-shaped towers surrounded by high walls and a rectangular reservoir. Considering how far back it dates, it's astonishing how a structure of this magnitude has been maintained in such a remarkable condition for close to 600 years.
The Temples of Angkor, famously called Angkor Wat, are a perfect blend of artistic mastery and spiritual devotion depicted on every bit of stone surrounding the temple walls. Thousands of stone carvings that represent Hindu deities and nymphs decorate the inner walls of the temples as you walk past its fascinating galleries.
Angkor Wat is one of those places you can't explore in a rush, you need at least a day to take in the sheer majesty of this archaeological jewel, but it will be completely worth it!
