The Brecon Beacons
Made up of six peaks stretching from east to west of Wales, the Brecon Beacons National Park is an outdoor paradise for anyone interested in open spaces and fresh country air. The peaks include Pen y Fan, 886 metres which is the highest peak, Corn Du, 873 metres high, Cribyn, 795 metres, Waun Rydd 769 metres, Bwlch y Ddwyallt, 754 metres, and Fan y Bîg, 719 metres high. These mountains have lakes, cirques, and other geological wonders visitors can explore. Often referred to as "the central Beacons", the Brecon Beacons National Park has the highest mountain in South Wales and is home to the famous Black Mountains.
Known in Welsh as "Bannau Brycheiniog", the national park is the unique shape of a horseshoe with valleys, lakes, mountains, cirques and other glacial features.
