The Daibutsuden, is a colossal bronze Buddha in Nara, Japan, this giant Buddha was once the biggest wooden building in the world, famous for almost rendering Japan bankrupt in 751. Though the buildings and sculptures have been repeatedly repaired, after being damaged by fire, earthquakes, and an accident that caused the Buddha's head to fall off in 855. The Great East Temple still stands tall. However, the highlight of the temple is its Sika Deer.

They are all around the temple, walking, sleeping in corners and are often photographed by and with tourists. The Sika Deer were once considered holy messengers of the Shinto gods. Many of them are tame and eat out of the hands of tourists and are famous for snatching stuff from tourists.

The entrance to the great Buddha is protected by two towering guards on both sides. The Buddha statue which is regarded as a kind of all-in-one Buddha, weighs about 500 tons and is 49 feet high. His hair consists of 966 bronze balls. This huge bronze buddha was made in the 700s and took most of Japan’s bronze production during that period.
