The Peninsula Valdes
An untamed land of coastal lagoons, pebble beaches, mudflats, wetlands and sand dunes, the Península Valdés is found on the coast of Argentina. This Patagonian natural reserve is 400 km of magical shoreline with cliffs and caves full of whales, elephant seals, sea lions, migratory seabirds, penguins, and all sorts of vibrant animals and plant life.
This inhospitable slice of Argentine Patagonia is isolated, raw and has an untouched ecosystem that is mind-blowing. Prepare to be awe-struck by vast sandy beaches covered with fearless elephant seals, sea lion colonies, and occasional Magellanic penguins. You’ll explore the rich marine life in places like Punta Tombo, Bahía Bustamente with its gorges and desert-like landscape disrupted by bays, capes, and pasturelands.
Experience close contact with the animals on safari-style expeditions since the Island is not populated, venture through indigenous areas of the reserve inhabited by the Mapuche people and relish in the wonders of this Peninsula’s undiscovered natural beauty.
