Volcanic Teide National Park
Teide National Park has one of the world's most fascinating volcanic landscapes, everything from craters, to volcanoes, rivers, and forests. The iconic Teide Volcano stands at 3,718 m above sea level and is surrounded by scenic trails with vantage points offering some of the most mind-blowing landscapes you have ever seen. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is packed with secrets, the Teide-Pico Viejo stratovolcano is like no other in the world from a geomorphological point of view.
It has caves, lava tongues, cones, and a rich fauna and flora which attracts over three million visitors every year. Visitors can ride on a cable car to get to the base station at an altitude of 2,356 m or to the top station at 3,555 m which is Spain's highest point. From the peak you can see the four surrounding islands: Gran Canaria, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera. You can also choose to get to the top of the mountain on foot which means you have to start the trail at the crack of dawn to be able to make it to the top at sunrise for the treat of a lifetime.
