Westfjord
The Westfjords of Iceland is a place of incredible wonders, though not as popular as the other touristy destinations in Iceland it is a must-see for anyone who wants to get off the beaten path. The region of Westfjords is vast with little towns dispersed around untouchable landscapes. You’ll be blown away by the gigantic waterfalls like the Dynjandi, the isolated tracks across remote lagoons, make-shift bridges only used by the locals, and everything seems a far cry from tourist hotspots like Jökulsárlón or the Golden Circle.
Spend a day enjoying the volcanic black-sand-beach Reynisfjara or the pink-sand beach of Rauðasandur. On every trip to Iceland's Westfjords, the journey is as gratifying and satisfying as the destination. The surrounding landscapes prove that some of the best places on earth have not yet been explored. Considering that the Westfjords are not your typical tourist destination and that it is not populated, the roads can only be navigated during the summer months, the rest of the year it is inaccessible.
